Green Globe certification

At Hotel Martinez, we are aware of the inevitable impact of our daily business operations on the environment.

We take our responsibility and try to minimize the pressure on our environment and community as much as possible.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation adopted a Responsibility Report based on four Pillars: Environmental Sustainability, Education & Personal Advancement, Health & Wellness, and Economic Development & Investment.

Since October 2010, The Hotel Martinez has been rewarded by the Green Globe certification. Green Globe is the international environmental and societal certification program specifically dedicated to the tourism and hospitality sector. How can you give our sustainable development efforts a boost during your stay at our hotel?

Discover some ideas to help you limit the impact of your trip on the environment and adopt the right actions during your stay.

Before your stay:

  • Travel by plane: Calculate and compensate your estimated CO2 emissions on the airline companies’ websites. You could also add an amount to your bill. Your contribution will be donated to GoodPlanet, a foundation created by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, which develops environmental and solidarity projects.
  • Reduce luggage weight: Travelling light decreases your impact on the environment
  • Look for accommodation with a sustainable development approach (certifications, top awards…) and environment-friendly activities
  • Find out about your destination’s natural surroundings and landscape, its cultural values and the appropriate kind of behavior

During your stay:

  • Use none or less-polluting means of transport: Trains, bicycles, walking…
  • Contribute to the development of the local economy and customs
  • Support local craftsmanship by visiting the perfume factories and blown glass studios. Reception staff or the concierge will advise you
  • Do not buy anything made from threatened species (animals or plants); their trade is illegal
  • Respect the local population at all times: Ask for permission to take photos
  • Wear appropriate clothing according to the places visited and where you will be staying. Remain unobtrusive
  • Do not encourage sexual tourism or prostitution
  • Limit personal use of water and energy resources: Re-use towels and sheets, turn off lights, and take showers instead of baths
  • Do not throw litter or cigarette butts on the ground anywhere; wait until you can dispose of them in a rubbish bin
  • Sort your waste for recycling: Paper, plastic, batteries…

After your stay:

  • Share your experiences and discoveries with friends and relatives or on internet. Sharing and exchanging eco-friendly ideas can encourage others to do likewise
